E-40 discusses his latest project, and why he has such a good ear for up-and-coming artists.
Following the release of The Block Brochure, E-40 took to BET’s “106 And Park” to discuss the three-part project.
“It’s three albums, and I’m just throwing the curve ball in the game,” said 40 Water, who was joined by Problem on the show. “I’ve been in this for so long, and I cover all angles of the game. The old-school era, the late-nineties, mid-nineties, two-thou-wows, you smell me?”
“I just wanted to get a lot of my old-school rapping partners and the new school, up-and-coming rappers that’s doing their job right now,” he added.
40 broadly discussed the features on the album, which include 2 Chainz, Twista, Kendrick Lamar, and others. “All good dudes, all of them is my friends. All of them are unique in their own way.”
E-40 also spoke about what makes him a good judge of talent. “I got that ear. …First of all, I like uniqueness. I love rappers that do what everybody else don’t. I’m a professional beat picker, that’s why everybody be like, ‘that boy be havin’ slaps!’”
